2025 Yamaha YZ250X – Legendary Two-Stroke Power for Enduro & Cross Country
The 2025 Yamaha YZ250X takes the proven championship heritage of the YZ250 motocross bike and adapts it for the demands of enduro racing, GNCC®, and cross country competition. With explosive 249cc two-stroke power, a wide-ratio 5-speed transmission, and Yamaha’s race-bred chassis, the YZ250X delivers the ultimate balance of speed, agility, and durability.
Its liquid-cooled, reed-valve-inducted 249cc engine is equipped with the Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVS™), tuned with a specific compression ratio, CDI mapping, and exhaust design for broad, controllable power. The Hitachi Astemo® Keihin PWK38S carburetor ensures precise fueling and crisp throttle response, while a new high-capacity radiator improves cooling efficiency during long, demanding races.
The YZ250X frame combines lightweight aluminum castings, forgings, and extrusions for the ideal mix of rigidity and flex. Suspension is handled by Yamaha’s class-leading KYB® 48mm Speed-Sensitive System fork (with new tool-free compression adjusters) and a fully adjustable KYB® rear shock with Kashima Coat™, providing 11.8" and 12.4" of travel. Stopping power comes from a high-performance braking system with a 270mm front rotor and 240mm rear rotor.
Racers will appreciate the cross country ergonomics, including a slim body design, flat seat, and narrow fuel tank for enhanced mobility. Premium Excel® wheels with Dunlop® Geomax MX33 tires, a sealed O-ring chain, 18-inch rear wheel, and side stand round out its GNCC®-focused features.
